There are thousands of miles of beach
Where no parasols are erected
To shade blankets
Coolers
And the sunburned
Where no parasols are erected
To shade blankets
Coolers
And the sunburned
This one is so alien
And unexplored
On a beautiful
Fall day
With a light blanketing
Of snow
Is like adding
Sprinkles
To frosting
Overshadowed by
The snow-capped mountains
Beyond
Winter gnaws at the bit
Eager, snorting
But the trees
Shed snow faster than leaves
Sunlight sifts through leafy boughs. Green-tinged, it swaddles the room with peaceful rays. Two walls of glass panes open to nature’s embrace. City streets and city worries seem far removed.
“Do you hear it?”
“What?”
“The sound.”

Patina
Like coffee
And tea stains
