Amber gold
Sun wraps the day
In magic hues
A gift to put away
In darkest places
And there stay wrapped
‘Til morning comes
Amber gold
Sun wraps the day
In magic hues
A gift to put away
In darkest places
And there stay wrapped
‘Til morning comes
More than grey matter
More than thoughts
More than being
More than all the love
I have ever given
In the final moments
I stop
When blood stops
I am
Blood
I call for it
In times of need
Or if too dark
It calls on me
It guides me true
Though rarely easy
But I know my path
When e’er I follow
My golden heart
Nature’s harmony
Of shade and tone and texture
The way the gull finds the air
Which lifts him into the sky
The foamy leading edge
Of the wave lapping at my feet
Soft light through a rain-spattered window
With a good book and a cozy couch
A solid from liquid
Carved and shattered
Cracks refilled by molten rock
Uplifted and fractured
Sundered and separated
Tumbled and rolled
Now here
Settled gently
On the shore
Of a still lake
On a quiet dawn
To marvel at the fleeting existence
Of the things that live
Even the tree
For what mindless thing
Of improbability
And random chance
Flutters and floats
Against ocean currents
Trailing feathery death
From gelatinous glass
Such splendid beauty and malice
In this ghost of the sea
With light and mass
We shape the world
For beauty’s sake
I love the way
Mind renders lines
To pleasure me
