Breezes ruffle
Pastel petals
Stems buck and sway
Camera and I lying
In long grass
Ants trundling
Across thighs and calves
Dragonflies
Hover and dart
Seek mosquitoes
And deer flies
Camera and I lying
In long grass
Ants trundling
Across thighs and calves
Dragonflies
Hover and dart
Seek mosquitoes
And deer flies
No life
No green
No creatures
Scurrying
(Or so it seems)
In this shroud
Of anonymity
I allow
The self is free
To explore
Deepest edge
Furthest field
Darkest path
So I may
Emerge again
Into light
Lit within
I’m not sure
What needs to change
What needs to heal
What I need to fix
Of course
I often manage
To imagine something
Stranger still
I wonder which god
With violent rhythm
And upending verse
Turned this sea bed on edge
Towering
Above the land
Which for a thousand miles
Has known only sky
And a horizon
Beyond infinity
We enter here
By the millions
Entranced
Where the sun
And the clouds
And the smoke
Interplay
Where the river
And the rails
Run in parallel
