Just a small collection of buildings
Snuggled up to a forest
Surrounded by water
In the shadow of mountains
Dominated by nature
Which is, of course
Its greatest appeal
Dominated by nature
Which is, of course
Its greatest appeal
Or is the world
Just as it is
And all the fractures and facets
All the breakage and breaking
Just me?
But there, above, a brooding cloud
Foreboding sight
And, by the morn’, a looming shroud
I am transported
To other worlds
To other dreams
To other insights
I learn my bounds
Then extend them
Beyond what I’d known
Or even dreamed possible
There are stars
Beyond blue sky
Uncountable stars
And planets circling
Most of them, and
Some with moons like ours
There will be no one to mourn
Our absence
But the emptiness of time
Of course
This also altered my sense
Of beauty
