But for the light
Ungentle on my Soul

Neglected
Forgotten
Failing
That I find the beauty in it
Renders the experience
Of encountering it
All the more
Painful
Discouraging
Disturbing
Heartbreaking
Lingering
Abandoned
To time
The elements
While memories linger
Even after anyone remains
To remember them
Yet I Remain
Left behind
As if detritus
Like pilings
Rising from
The ocean depths
Stripped of the planks
Which gave them cause
Still, pretty they
Beneath their grey torment
So to offer
Weathered wise remark
