Like Clouds in the Sky

The Earth boils up
Billowing
Like clouds in the sky

Unconfined

The world provides
Such an abundance
Of the strange
And unknown

I try not to let
My ignorance
Confine my experience

I want to hurt
Because I have been hurt
I want to punish
Because I have been wronged
I want to bomb my enemies
Because they have stolen my peace

And the grip of violence
Grows ever tighter
Until the meager remains of love
Trickle from my cold, hateful body

I have discovered light
Emitted by many sources
Each illuminating
The world in its own way

But the light which guides me
Burns from within
And from there illuminates
My true path in the world

There are places in this world
Where fairytales
Have always been true

Will you still remember me
From this time allotted me
Once death steals the life from me
So all that’s left is what we see

Will it be a photograph
In your mind, an epitaph
Or the sound of my lost laugh

I love
The colours
Of the sky

The way they dance
Into the day
Lively and so cheerful

It helps, from time to time
When changing the way the world sees
To change the world it sees

Often, I tunnel in
Narrow my focus
Until my vision
Hones on a singularity

All outside
Just fades away

As the calm dusk
Settles in
After

The sky breaks through
Promising a better day
Tomorrow
