I saw a concrete wall
Brightly painted
With a few cracks
Rain saturated
But on closer inspection
I realized
It was the surface
Of a turquoise planet
Where a river once ran
Along a cerulean canyon
Carved through southern aqua badlands
But on closer inspection
I realized
It was the surface
Of a turquoise planet
Where a river once ran
Along a cerulean canyon
Carved through southern aqua badlands
Shadow event
Captured in light
Held in coloured silver
On fading film
With light and mass
We shape the world
For beauty’s sake
I love the way
Mind renders lines
To pleasure me
A pattern played
Their brightness seized
Turned back on them
A harsher light
By broken souls
Who feed on other’s weakness
I close my eyes
And dream of sky
Pretend there’s green
Hear the song
Feel the breeze
And the sun’s blue rays
While I tried to be brave
Standing on sorrow’s shore
Adding my own tears
To the deluge
Nudge
Nudge the icicle
Just a little…
A little harder
With all my subtle energy
Nudge
Creaking
Nudge
Crack
The details lost
No greys or shadows
The colours lost
No textured nuance
And it occurs to me
The same thing happens
When I shine the light too hard
On the truths I’m seeking
