Carrying thimblefuls
To the flames
Like a dancer
In a deadly waltz
With blackness
Like a dancer
In a deadly waltz
With blackness
And there take in
All that is
Spread out into infinity
There are stars
Beyond blue sky
Uncountable stars
And planets circling
Most of them, and
Some with moons like ours
Eroding, eroding, eroding
All which had supported me
Until I am perched
On a pinnacle
So that its setting
In all its glory
Becomes the tale
Places where
I always find
The colour
I’ve been missing
Clouds
And mountains
Mingle
In a waning light
The camera records
As a monochrome
The interplay
Of force
And resistance
How is it possible
There is such glory
In this universe
And how improbable is it
That I am its witness?
Until I look again
And see the beauty
In the dilapidated
The strength
In the distressed
The resilience
In the rusted
