She flowed
Into the sea of humanity
With the ferocity
Of a flash flood
Creating whorls and eddies
And a floe of debris
Which endured long after
Humanity finally swallowed her whole
She flowed
Into the sea of humanity
With the ferocity
Of a flash flood
Creating whorls and eddies
And a floe of debris
Which endured long after
Humanity finally swallowed her whole
Life perseveres
Thrives
In a desert of salt and sand
The hands and minds
Of those who battle
Time and the elements
Might heed
The supple tenacity
Of adaptation
Or their deeds
Will surely
Perish
Be soft
She said
Like velvet
Bend with the wind
Like grass
In the field
So when others
Touch your life
They are not cut
And if they lean on you
A little hard
You do not break
All this broken glass
You wear
From your past
It harms you
As much as those
You love
And what is not
Already broken
Is brittle
With the slightest pressure
It shatters
Into shards you wield as weapons
Learn to be soft
Before you crumble
To no more than sand
Or only when
You are naught but dust
Will you ever be soft
A place of rest
Now at rest
Making intimate new friends
To find such peace
In the stillness of presence
Connected to all things
I breathe
Clear my mind
Become a place at rest
Beacons complement
One to guide
One to illumine
The fog competes
Beacons diminished
So blares the horn
What those of the sea
Cannot see
They hear
Don’t stand too close!
Above
A half moon
Below
Constellations of daisies
Quiver in the dewy grass
Between
The tower seeks
A delinquent sun
On a morning ruled by mist
I came for sunrise
Woke early for
Golden hour glory
Instead, the fog
Cast a shroud
A pall upon the morning
Patience
The sun will out
And so it did
A moment, perhaps
More glorious
Than the moment sought
Expectation
Patience
Adaptation
I find few moments more soothing
Than a cool, grey day
Whose listless breezes stir a gentle rain
Droplets patter pane and sill
And I, warm and dry
With a steaming mug
Turn the pages of a book
Offering scant attention to its contents
All lines of inquiry converge
On a distant portal of glass
Beyond which a tunnel continues
Deeper than I can see
Offering a promise of The Infinite
