Creating the Impossible

I keep in my heart
In my mind
In my spirit

The possibility
Of the impossible

Sometimes, there is beauty
In a moment
Which takes my breath away

As if touched by divinity

Mountains
Ablaze
Smoking

Flight
Water
Fighting

Red Sky and Rainbow
Bringing much needed rainfall
To Alberta badlands
And dinosaur bones

When water runs
It eats away the earth
Cutting facets
Like crystal
Above the dry valley
They call Death

Thus they shone
Close to bone
A feat not
Taken lightly

Until
The rain
Did fail

There is little more satisfying
Than finding a little-used road
Crossing unfamiliar country

Such a road promises
Adventure, beauty, discovery
And the longer I follow it
The further inside myself I see

Sometimes
No words
Are forthcoming

Some images
Must be allowed
To speak for themselves

Sometimes I remember
The extent of my privilege
To cross a bridge
From here to somewhere

Other

Unfettered
Without risk
Without consequence
Without desperation

Somewhere better
To be
Somewhere different
To see

There is a road
Which goes
From here
To somewhere

Between
There seems
An expanse
Of nothingness
