From so many things
So many places
So many people
Myself
Left so much behind
In faded memories
Lost to time
Distraction
And repression
Myself
Left so much behind
In faded memories
Lost to time
Distraction
And repression
I am reminded
Of the day’s catches and false-starts
The day which would have never left my bed
But for a promise to a friend
By the thousands they fly
A twice daily parade
With potent energy
In the morning
A somber homecoming
In the evening
They fly
The old iron
Rust
Pitted
Flaked
Like me
Still strong
But often the most revealing view
Is when the light of the inner world
Reflects right back to me
I strive for healing
And the world becomes
Healers and the healing
Compassion, grace and service
I remind myself
While some have said
The light at tunnel’s end
Is an illusion
I demand
You deny
I beg
You withhold
I am quiet
You listen
I am still
You approach
Sometimes I feel so luminous
As if anyone
Everyone
Can see my inner light
