So ridiculously
Canary, Amber and Orange
My presence seems
To be the true miracle
How is it possible
There is such glory
In this universe
And how improbable is it
That I am its witness?
How is it possible
There is such glory
In this universe
And how improbable is it
That I am its witness?
Until I look again
And see the beauty
In the dilapidated
The strength
In the distressed
The resilience
In the rusted
Touched
Heard
Smelled
Tasted
Seen
Reasoned
I am out of time
With the world
Out of rhythm
With the seasons of my being
One from Earth
One from Sky
I notice a speck
On the river
A boat
The immensity
Strikes me
Humbling
I crouch down
Inch forward
Lie flat
Wiggle further
And as I near the very edge
A chalk covered hand
Comes over the top
Taking a firm grip
I travel the path before me
Accepting the unknown
Grace, beauty, the sense of the divine
Whether or not these qualities exist in the world
In the objects I observe
Or are a construction of my consciousness
I share the experience of them
With every other human being
And while I have never seen
An Elf, Sprite or Dwarf
I know their presence
In the fantastical beauty
Of their works
