Glitter on the horizon
Skyline silhouette under a golden sky
Beyond the great western harbour
I came here
Enthralled
Thirty-five years ago
Wide-eyed country boy
Glass and steel
In perfect lines
Rose above
The waters tread by commerce
I came here
Enthralled
Thirty-five years ago
Wide-eyed country boy
Glass and steel
In perfect lines
Rose above
The waters tread by commerce
Up the hill
And through the woods
Round corners
Through the trees
Over roots and rocks
How many times
Have I watched
The last rays
Of a day dying
Pretense
Distraction
Aggrandisement
Avarice
I find my presence
In the present
And in that presence
Is love
The way they dance
Into the day
Lively and so cheerful
It is no different
With the cycle of life
And death
And rebirth
Like the dragonfly caught
In amber
From a time
No words remember
Places where
I always find
The colour
I’ve been missing
How is it possible
There is such glory
In this universe
And how improbable is it
That I am its witness?
