Tug & Three Barges

In the tranquility
Of twilight
A tugboat
Tows three barges

From I know not where
To I know not where
And none of that matters

The tranquility of dusk
Descends on the world
On my spirit

So I begin
The time of
Renewal

As the calm dusk
Settles in
After

The sky breaks through
Promising a better day
Tomorrow

As much as I love
A sunset
I love
Even more
The opportunity
To greet its return

There’s a subtle light
When the sun breaks through
Over a stormy sea
Far in the distance

The burst of amber
Draws the eye
With its shameless
Brazen vibrance

An endless sea to my left
Mountains rising
Into the sky on my right

A yellow stripe
And smooth asphalt
Winding along
The rocky shore between

Azure the sea
Slate the sky
The Islands
In between

The day was long
Night comes on
To fitful
Sleep go I

I don’t need to see very far
Or with much clarity
To know the vastness
Of the ocean

I don’t need to look very deeply
Or with much intimacy
To know the beauty
Of every living being

Dusk descends
Hard and fast
Like the rain

Clouds
And mountains
Mingle

In a waning light
The camera records
As a monochrome

Nothing reminds me better
How little most of it matters
Than a chair like this
In a place like this
