Sometimes the light
Inexorable
Calls out
All I need
Acknowledge
Become the light
Sometimes the light
In darkness
Seek it
All I need
Resolve
Shed the darkness
Sometimes the light
Inexorable
Calls out
All I need
Acknowledge
Become the light
Sometimes the light
In darkness
Seek it
All I need
Resolve
Shed the darkness
Few things are finer
Than a hearty feed
Of unchallenged delight
At some out of the way eatery
Perched on the edge
Of magnificence
I lingered there
For humble light
And crescent moon uncloaked
The sun now bedded for the night
Its glory past
While beauty lingered still
Now a moment of repose
If only in my mind
The day it lingers too
Then home to bed
Soon lingering in dreams
With that I join the sun
Basking in its warmth
I am reminded
That this glorious sun
Is but a twinkling dot
In some other sky
Of a far away planet
Admired there, perhaps
For its celestial position
In the imaginary outline
Of a mythical god
While its admirers wonder
If they are alone in the universe
I long for this experience of love
Moments of profound beauty
Shared by souls intertwined
In a beauty all their own
This rock-strewn shore
This stoney Isle
This hardened land
Of heartened folk
That no catastrophe can sunder
No hardship wither
Nor keep them from the sea
This place of no small beauty
And gracious souls
Cape Breton
Grounded yet adrift
Betwixt and between
Tethered while untethered
Her beauty
Both fades and grows
Returning to the Earth
From which she once
Set out to sea
The cycle of life
Beautiful and cruel
Both to be found
In any single moment
This one nears the end
At which new life begins
Solitary sentinel
Faces menacing skies
Steadfast
Resolute
Safe harbour signal
Sought in distress
