Renew
Reborn
Struggle

To be

Vibrant
Living
Loving

This little peal of green
Winding through the desert red
Cut its path through rising rock

Stone once silt when waterborne
Now to the sea writhes its decay
Perhaps again to stratify

Nature and time
Eat away
At rings
Of hidden time
The history
Kept by nature

From the valley floor
Yearn for the peaks
And high mountain passes

Though the paths I see
Attain neither peak nor pass

Trapped in this valley of lassitude

Necessity creates
Necessity destroys

Intentional purpose
Inexorable decay

Dynamic tension
Eternally entwined

I build things
Create
Establish
Organize

Blogs
Scripts
Software
Relationships

Meticulously
Passionately
Obsessively
Lovingly

I leave behind
Remnants of the past
Which moulder and decay
In lingering neglect

When I return
To pick them up
They are no longer
The same moments

Rust reminds me
That decay, too
Is beautiful
