The wind
It shakes me up
It shakes me down
I’ve been standing
In the still air
Far too long
I need
To get
Ruffled
The wind
It shakes me up
It shakes me down
I’ve been standing
In the still air
Far too long
I need
To get
Ruffled
Insistent weather brings
To harry mountains
Obscure the scene
I travelled far
Intent to see
But…
Soon enough
Beguile me
They dance and play
Revealing games
A silken veil
May hide the charms
But, no, no … please!
Don’t take it off
In this shroud
Of anonymity
I allow
The self is free
To explore
Deepest edge
Furthest field
Darkest path
So I may
Emerge again
Into light
Lit within
So I climb to highest ridge
Carrying unsubtle hope
Else bathe below in light’s deceit
I find the beauty
In the lines
The forms
And open space
Which let me roam
Such hopeful sight
Is breaking through
The smoky sky
Now blue above
And gold below
Backlit, the tone
Of tungsten haze
Then, lower, emerald
Of the trees
These, gratefully
Have not (yet) burned
