When the air extracts the moisture
From my sinuses
From my mouth
From my lungs

Sun in the Night

Sun in the night
Awakens me from slumbers
Ascending into consciousness

Crisp and cold
The night air
Sounds, sharp and clear
Amplifying presence

When the last light fails
In our cities
When the last of us breathe
Our last breath
The sky will still burn with fire
Every morning

There will be no one to mourn
Our absence
But the emptiness of time

Sometimes life seems an infinite jest

How crazy it is
This point of consciousness
Travelling through space and time
On a ship of meat and bone

Fearless
I would fail less
Or more

I would never fail
For fear of trying
I would fail
For reaching further
Than I could grasp

Nowhere to land
Nowhere to rest
Details blurred
No clear subject

Frustration
As true in art
As in life

Strange forms
Provoke me
To alter my idea
Of strange

Which alters my idea
Of beauty
Which alters my idea
Of love

And so
My capacity
For compassion
Grows

Bleeding Earth
Heat and minerals
Colour flows
Leaving trails

I flow through lives
Passion and presence
Broken love
Leaving trails

Nothing lightens the burden
Like a hearty guffaw
Like deep laughter
Rising up from the depths
Clearing me of the darkness
Lifting up the weight

Nothing sustains the Now
Mile after mile
Like an open road
Through spectacular country
