There are places
I like to go
When the world seems
A little grey

The colour

Howe Sound Dusky Blues

Dusk descends
Hard and fast
Like the rain

Clouds
And mountains
Mingle

In a waning light
The camera records
As a monochrome

When I realized
No conflict
Could be resolved
Either by winning
Or capitulation
I began to understand
The true nature of conflict

The interplay
Of force
And resistance

Under a sky
So ridiculously
Canary, Amber and Orange
My presence seems
To be the true miracle

How is it possible
There is such glory
In this universe
And how improbable is it
That I am its witness?

Time seems so merciless
And malicious

Until I look again
And see the beauty
In the dilapidated
The strength
In the distressed
The resilience
In the rusted

Dusk settles in
Light waning in the sky
Slate blue clouds
Weave between the peaks
Howe Sound calm, serene

The world settles into an armchair
At the end of a long day
Breathes a sigh
Takes a long draw from the wineglass
And lets the worries drift away

Caught in the maelstrom of thoughts
I am lost in a chaos of possibilities

So I breathe
Let go the thoughts
Dispelling
The chaos

Until I am conscious
Only of being

In the time it takes
For the flood to wane
And the wave to recede
Back to its ocean source

I will wash away
The tears of my last failure
And gather myself up
To have another go

When disconnected from my body
I experience the world through my mind
And my everyday senses
As if all there is can be

Touched
Heard
Smelled
Tasted
Seen
Reasoned

I am out of time
With the world
Out of rhythm
With the seasons of my being

Hot sun and hot water
Cascading down
One revealing
One creating
Terraces of minerals

One from Earth
One from Sky
