Muzzle Velocity ~ NaPoWriMo Day 27

It came at us so fast
Muzzle velocity
Non-linear

So many breeches
So many crimes
So many offences
So much hatred

From every direction
All at once
Diverging
Merging
Breeding

Pick one
Out of the spray of transgressions
Pick the most egregious one

Try to track it
Understand it
Predict it
Counter it

But then another
Even worse
And then another
Worse again
And another
Unfathomable
And another
Unthinkable
And another
Impossible

Until existence itself
No longer seems real
And it is oh, so very tempting
To just throw up our hands
Not so much in surrender
Or resignation
Or exasperation
But in absolute confusion

We don’t know what to do anymore
What to think
What to feel

Emotional
Intellectual
Spiritual
Cognitive
Physical

Overload

All that is left
Is a collective
Shudder and shout
In the streets

Return fire
The muzzle velocity
Of the masses

Hit them with every grievance
With every suffered pellet of shot

March
Raised fists
Raised voices

Smother them with resistance
From every direction
All at once

Until they throw up their hands
In surrender

Scooter at night in Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia

The right Kind of Time ~ NaPoWriMo Day 25

I see us
On the scooter
Isolated in space
But time
Isn’t the right time
The right kind of time
While the vision itself
Is indistinct

Blurred

Which leaves me

Confused

Nothing’s quite adding up
Or going anywhere
That could be a destination
Or even a place to stop
And rest

I need to rest

Let go
And gather in

Paradoxes

Or is that ironies

The scooter drives on
Into the night
Carrying some sort
Of hopeful

Light

Illuminating nothing

No

Illuminating
Streaks of formless
Something

Something formless
Meant to have form
Intending to form

Therein
I know where the hope
In the light
Leads

The right kind of time

Even if I
Have no idea where
Or when
Such time will be

Or was

Paradox ~ NaPoWriMo Day 19

Imagine ordered chaos
Frenetic stillness
Waiting for an event
Ever in progress

Then find five men at rest
In the midst of disorder and tumult
One obscured

Ever changing
Ever the same

A paradox of contradictions

Such is
Chandni Chowk

A maze of amazement
Selling all you might want
And never wanted

An eternity of moments
In every moment
Among them five still men
In a state of unrest
