Revering the dead
In many ways
We give more reverence
To the dead
Than the living
Pic and a Word Challenge #2: Attraction
Waving goodbye to Patime, who sold baskets, Zuhra aimlessly made her way across the street, being careful to take in all the sights of the nearly closed marketplace before innocently stopping outside Tahir’s shop.
Midway Blues
Above the steam
Hot red and orange
What once was green
Some get the blues
They can’t condone
The forest stripped
To barest bone
Red Velvet
All I can see is food
Like today, in this dry desert heat
With only the apples from yesterday
A can of baked beans, for a campfire dinner
And tomorrow morning’s apple-cinnamon oatmeal
A trick of the tail
In the way she looked at me
Graceful intensity
Un-self-conscious confidence
Self-conscious presence
A stillness in her
Like the stutter between stalking steps
Like the moment before the pounce
In the late dusk
Film draws whatever light it can
Through a lens wide open
On a camera held close
Steady as hands are able
The vantage of elevating myself
To understand the path I must follow
Than from the vantage point gained
Through the hard work
Of elevating myself
Bringing Fire
The hoodoos rise
Bringing fire
To the canyon
