Our destination had been the Jakarta History Museum but walked into a Sunday fete in the park adjoining it. People were renting brightly coloured bicycles and the girls and women were provided with wide-brimmed sun hats of matching colours. There was a live band, and some food stalls, somewhere nearby a bubble machine. I don’t know what the event was celebrating, or whether this was a regular Sunday thing. No matter. Everyone was having a great time.
