Fluttering Eyelash, Ciutat De Les Arts I Les Ciences, Valencia, Spain

She fluttered an eyelash
Yes, just the one
Not a wink
But a feathery whisper
Undetectable
To those not seeking it
As she knew I was

And my heart replied
With a flutter of its own
A quickening
Which rose to my flesh

I can’t believe this is the same structure as the one you used for “Fear”. Such a difference perspective makes (and good photography)! After this pandemic, I am really going to travel…

  <smile> Not the same structure, but the same complex. The translation for the Valencian (a dialect of Spanish) “Ciutat De Les Arts I Les Ciences” is “The City of Arts and Sciences.” It’s a complex of museums and performing arts buildings situated in the heart of Valencia. This one is called L’Hemisfèric which is home to an IMAX, planetarium and laserium. “Fear” features the “Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia” which houses an opera house and performing arts centre.
  
  Each building is unique in form and something of an engineering/architectural marvel. You’re not likely to see anything like them anywhere else. All designed by Santiago Calatrava and Félix Candela.

  If you dawdle through this search of Valencia on Pix to Words, you’ll find quite a few photographs from this complex to give you a better feel for it. I took a lot of photographs there, so there are still more to come.
  
  In that search are also several photographs from the Valencia Cathedral as well as a public market building near the cathedral.

Love the turquoise building against the azure sky. Stunning colors. And the contrast of the geometric architecture against the soft clouds. Clever words too. Great post.

  Colours and exposure enhanced by HDR, but not too much. I basically shoot at least 5 exposure-bracketed captures for every image now and almost everything I post here gets the HDR treatment. Generally, I try to keep it as natural as possible, but sometimes… 😉 This time is fairly close to what I would have seen, though the clouds are a bit more dramatic than they would have appeared on the day.
  
  The first four lines of the poem came three or four days ago, but then sat in idle while long working days and creative exhaustion settled in for the remainder of the week. The last three lines of the stanza came earlier today when I revisited it. Nearly posted the single stanza… but the creative muse wasn’t ready to let it go. The first two lines of the next stanza came not too much later, creating the fliratious tension, then the obvious turnaround of the last three soon after.
  
  I nearly posted that, but the muse interceded again. Had to wait a little longer for the third and fourth lines, but by the time they came… they seemed obvious as well. The balance seemed perfect, then, as if the poem knew what it needed to be all along.
  
  Sometimes, I don’t see it so so much as being clever. Rather, I’m simply being patient and listening for the words to speak their own wisdom. In a sense, I often feel more like a scribe than a poet. 🙂
