Into the Wind

Into The Wind, Point Reyes Lighthouse, National Seashore, California, United States of America
Buffeted
But unharmed
With closed eyes
Quiet mind
Feel the wind

Ruffled and
Unsteadied
Solid stance
Discovered
Stronger now

Balance found
Face the wind
Face the rush
Of events
Step forward

Taken during travels, 2009

Point Reyes is known for the strong winds which run down the coast. When they hit the high escarpment of land which is the point, jutting far out into the sea, they wind compresses and accelerates, like water through a pinched hose. It was particularly strong this day, and more than a little gusty. Just standing required a wide stance and a bit of a lean into the forceful wind.

Inspiration enough for a few metaphors.

And a poem. <smile>
