The magic of departure
Invokes the rearward glance
Taking in what’s being left
All I do not carry
The beauty, perhaps the ugly
The darkness, of course the light

No matter the time
The journey intends to take
Some things will I remember
Some will I forget
Which? I leave to discover
Upon this travel’s end

The reminiscence lasts
Not so very long
Then aft to prow
There look ahead
Begin this new adventure
