Cozy ~ Pic and a Word Challenge #116

Cozy, Blackrock Resort, Ucluelet, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada
Exposed
Out on the rocks
Ocean breaking at my feet
Along a shoreline
So battered over time
Even were the air at rest
It would seem storm buffeted

But there
The resort so close
I nearly feel the warmth
Of the golden window light
The frontage seems
To brace against the weather
Like I sometimes do in a storm
Arms outstretched
Head on into the rippling wind

I imagine
Cozied up inside
Families and couples
Perhaps with a fire
Some soft music
A glass of wine
A good book
And a splendid view
Of the sea-splashed rocks

My eye lingers there
For a moment
I turn to the surf
Watching well out into the ocean
Wary of rogue waves
Seeking to drag
The distracted photographer
Into the wilderness
On the edge of his frame

Reminded
Once again
The wild is not alway remote
But sometimes
Just a hop, skip and a jump
From the safety of civilization

Last week we found ourselves in Wanderlust. This week, let’s bundle up and get Cozy. Or find something else to inspire your creativity in this photograph capturing a coastal storm in Ucluelet, British Columbia, Canada.

The Pic and a Word Challenge is a weekly creativity prompt offered Sundays.

Each week I provide a photograph of mine along with a single word. The challenge? Use the pic and/or word as points of inspiration to create something — a photograph, a painting, prose, poetry, fiction, non-fiction, longread or just a few words. Challenge #115 ~ Wanderlust
The word for last week’s Pic and a Word Challenge #115 was Wanderlust, along with this photograph of a the Nanaimo to Horseshoe Bay ferry underway across the Strait of Georgia at sunset.
