The Birds

For the Birds, The Ganga (Ganges River), Kashi (Old Varanasi), Uttar Pradesh, India copy
They flock
The gulls
To feed
On seed
And bread
That’s thrown
From boats
On which
The tourists
View
The banks
Where
Funeral
Pyres burn
All day
And night

Also where
I lay
In wait
For Pigeons
To be
Startled
Into
Flight
Drawn together
For the seed
Laid out
For them
Upon
The steps

But when
One comes
In to
Alight
Its wings
They form
A perfect
Fan

So from
The many
Frames
I shoot
This is
The one
Which captures
Best
The feeding
Of
The birds
Upon
The Mother
Ganga’s
Banks

Some several moments before, I was standing below this ledge upon which pigeons feed. Someone ascending or descending the stairs must have startled the birds, which burst into flight and circled several times. I managed to capture that moment with Mark on the Way Home.
