Minaret

This artful spire
This minaret
With bold white lines
And floral whimsy

Reaching up
Where black kites soar
In deep blue skies
With wispy cloud

And from the top
The calls to prayer
Are sung five times
To rally faithful

Soon they come
To show their faith
In one true god
None else but allah

Just like the Jews
And the Christians
All the people
Of the book

With bells
With horns
With song
We’re called

From the steeple
From Temple Mount
From minaret
We’re called

Pray to Jesus
Pray to Yahweh
Pray to Allah
The one true God
