The Look

Forgive me
Young man
For startling you
With my camera

I heard
But did not hear
You exiting the door

And my eye
Was on a scooter

For which I’d waited

To fill the narrow alley
Just steps from my hotel

I did not register
Your surprise in the frame
As I clicked the shutter

And only felt
Your eyes
As I lowered
The camera
