Where Am I Going!

Sometimes I wonder
Where am I going
Where is this road taking me
How am I going to get past this

I stop
Reconnoitre
Check the maps
Consider my options

Except for some times

Sometimes I drive on
All roads lead somewhere
And even a dead end
Is a destination I learn from

Almost all my best adventures
Began, not with a plan
But with a purpose

Sometimes that purpose
Need be little more

Than adventure

Interesting timing on this post….
I am seriously considering a trip where I just get in the car and drive….. I’m a little terrified….. any advice?????

  I still have a pretty vivid memory of being somewhere over the Atlantic, Athens bound with my sister. A three month Eurail pass in my wallet. When it struck me:
  
  I have no idea where I’m sleeping tonight.
  
  Whoa! I have no idea where I’m sleeping for the next 90 nights!
  
  …. OK. That’s kinda cool.
  
  I found something. Every night for the next 90. Something or somewhere. Once under a rowboat in the northern Swedish tundra, mosquitoes pelting the outside of my sleeping bag. On quite a few trains (my sister was pretty cheap, and felt we’d already paid for the Eurail passes, so why pay for a nice bed, when we could be getting somewhere else while we slept?)
  
  There were plenty of hostels, and hotels, a couple of city parks (hunked down for the night with a bunch of fellow travellers when our trains dumped us in cities too late in the evening to get accommodation).
  
  But I always found a place to sleep.
  
  What is it about just hopping in the car for a roadtrip of undetermined destinations that terrifies you?

    Thank you for sharing your story, it sounds like you’ve experienced some amazing adventures. Perhaps you’re just braver than I am? Mine will seem small in comparison, but hopefully fun too! I have a tentative direction, and I’m going to let fate lead the way. : ). I’m looking forward to some beautiful photos. Thanks for sharing and listening!
