Teardrops

It was a time
When the tears fell so hard
They flowed together in torrents
All emptying into
A vast ocean of sorrows

While I tried to be brave
Standing on sorrow’s shore
Adding my own tears
To the deluge

Still holding onto
Love
Compassion
Generosity
Tenacity

Holding fear at bay
The same fear
Which in others
Wrought the hatred
Fed the anger
Which, when released
Brought the violence

And then came the rain
