Bridges

I build bridges
From here to there
And there to here

Then cross them
To see what’s there
Or bring it here

And burn them
To keep what’s there
Away from here

In all of this
On some bridges
I’ve erected

I’ll stand mid-span
And ponder on
The lands bisected

The in-between
The neither here
The neither there

And wonder why
I’ve spanned across
A place so fair
