The Walls I Erect

Old Telegraph Building, Gregory Highway, Queensland, Australia
The walls I erect
To protect myself from others
Define me

After a while
All anyone sees of me
Is the walls

After a while
All that is left of me
Is the walls

I love the irony of the poem being about shutting down communication with the outside world, when the walls which inspired it originally housed a telegraph operation.

Just a note: walls are not the same thing as boundaries.
