Misty Stillness

Grey Mist Rising, Midway Geyser Basin, Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, United States of America
Sometimes, a haze descends
Obscuring all I see
I don’t mind

The misty grey
Becomes a canvas
On which I create worlds

Or, I still my mind
Becoming as featureless
As the world extant

Contemplating the misty stillness
I am often delighted
By what emerges

The misty stillness of a fog can seem confining, like a cage, much like the rail which is confining the photographer in this image. But it can also provide a blank slate for creation, or a quiet space for contemplating awareness. Either of these perceptions provide an expanse for limitless expression and insight. Looked at another way, the grey mist is a void, a space spare of content. But, that which is empty may always be filled. (WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge: Spare.)
