It burns too hot
Can’t douse the flames
Can’t put it out
I walk away
And let it burn
It follows me
Burns up the world
But if I stay
And let it burn
It burns away
The fuel it’s fed
I feed it hate
Feed it anger
I feed it fear
Feed it anguish
And so the fire
It feeds on me
Burns my weakness
Burns it away
Then it withers
The fuel all spent
Gone the anger
Gone the anguish
What’s left is me
My being fertile
Where there was fire
I now can grow

The Pic and a Word Challenge is a weekly creativity prompt offered Sunday mornings.
