Promise to a Friend

In the late afternoon
The sun breaks through
Leaving a glimmering kiss
On Howe Sound’s rippling waters

I am reminded
Of the day’s catches and false-starts
The day which would have never left my bed
But for a promise to a friend

We found the sweet snow
On the planned last run
So made an exception
And took another run

A day in and out of clouds
On mixed conditions
But tomorrow I’ll remember
The sweet snow and the sun

April is National Poetry Month and I am participating in the National Poetry Writing Month challenge (NaPoWriMo) — 30 poems in 30 days. Although, I’ve gotten a bit ahead — this is poem #38. =)

All the poetry I write for National Poetry Writing Month can be found tagged as #NaPoWriMo.
