Strange

Crows and strange trees, Mulder's House, Langley, British Columbia, Canada
Back home
Where I live
The crows fly twice
Once at dawn
Again at dusk
From and to
Their nightly roost

By the thousands they fly
A twice daily parade
With potent energy
In the morning
A somber homecoming
In the evening
They fly

But the trees here
Here, the trees
They’re strange
And even the crows
Won’t alight in them

They fly
The crows fly
But I have no idea
Where they come from
Where they go to

And it all seems so strange
To sit beneath the strange trees
In the dawn’s first light
The evening’s first darkness
Without the parade
Of crows in the sky

Trees near Mulder’s House
(Yes, that Mulder

April is National Poetry Month and I am participating in the National Poetry Writing Month challenge (NaPoWriMo) — 30 poems in 30 days. Although, I’ve gotten a bit ahead — this is already #32. =)

All the poetry I write for National Poetry Writing Month can be found tagged as #NaPoWriMo.
