Guardians & Goldenrod

I dream
Of guardians
In goldenrod armour

In countenance: fierce
But whose hearts
Have the gentleness
Of brushed cotton

I dream
Of a life
In goldenrod splendour

In which guardians
Are lost mem’ries
From times of unrest
Long ago forgotten

Of one
I dream sleeping
While the other
I dream waking
