In the mirror
It was just the one tear
In the many streaks of mascara
Which struck her… wrong

The tear was wrong
The conditions were wrong
Her love was wrong
He was wrong

Her life… was wrong

She turned from the mirror
Strode from the bathroom
Out the front door
Off the property

Leaving behind
All that was
All that would have been
All that had been wrong

Bringing nothing
But a tear-stained face
And the resolution
To never look back

She had no idea
What right looked like
Or felt like
Or where to find it

Except that
