In Saigon
The anniversary
Twenty years ago
A domino had toppled

Now, joy and smiles
Such beautiful smiles
Even for the Americans
Once enemies, welcomed now as friends

Twenty years again
America revisits Castro’s Cuba
A domino once too close to home
Now markets opened, people flowing

Looking forward
Another twenty
I wonder
How we’ll see Islam
That domino now falling

I suppose I’ll wonder then
As I wonder now
Was all that hate and mayhem
All that slaughter and bile

Necessary?
