To realms as strange
And exquisite
As divine and beautiful
As any I could imagine
Or read about
Or discover
In the photographs of others

But a photograph
Or a story
Invokes only
My imagination
While a visit
Expands my imagination
Informs it

Experience
Empowers imagination
To speak truly

This I learned
About travelling
At a very young age

I am no longer young
I’m only beginning to learn
That a spiritual journey is no different
That books and teachers
Illuminate wisdom
But acquiring it is an act of practice
Of showing up and taking on the experience

In practice
I begin to discover
Spiritual realms
More strange and exquisite
More divine and beautiful
Than any I could possibly imagine
