Leaping into disorientation

Sometimes I get confused
Which way’s up
And which way’s down
Which floor am I on?
Which floor should I be on?
Which door should I take?
Should I have come in through that one?

And then I wake up
In the dark
Unsure if I’m in my own room
Which way the bed is
Which way I am in the bed
I can’t find the light
Can’t see the window

And then the alarm goes off
A strange alarm

And then I remember
I’m travelling
Far from home
In a cheap motel
In a strange land
Where my language isn’t spoken

Suddenly
It all makes sense
I find the light
Get out of bed
And get back to the adventure

Try a new floor
Open a new door
And love the disorientation
