A time of battlements and bulwarks

Caerphilly Castle
I set myself
In bygone time
Fantasize
On maidens fair
And fair white knights

This castle’s lords
Then I rethink
Erected stone
To stay the will of men

A time of battlements
And bulwarks
Steel armour
And the sword

As much to still
The other lords
In quest
Of greater power

The deep dark moats
And mortars
Kept the peasants
Out

So I reflect
On present times
We’ve new need
For castles

Perhaps it’s time
The one percent
The lords and all their vassals
Should fear again
The peasants?
