Jonesing for true autumn

Jonesing for true autumn
I grew up in New England
Where the forests come alive
For just a while in October

The leaves turn colours
Unimaginable
Lighting mountainsides on fire

And so when autumn brings
Her colours to other places
I am reminded of my onetime home

No matter the beauty of the scene, I think
Well, that’s not so bad for here
It does not satisfy my yearning
