Cobalt

It pleases me
I’m not sure why
It’s the blue
I think
The cobalt

It’s what drew me
What pleased
My mind’s eye
Said, “There’s something there”

At home
I play with it
Tease the colours out
It’s not sharp
Texture frustratingly enigmatic
Yet… I come back to it
Over and again

It pleases me
And frustrates me
Perhaps that is, afterall
Part of its pleasure
That there is something there
But not entirely captured

I am drawn back, again
Seeking
Reframing
Teasing
Perhaps it is the cobalt
Which would be nothing
Without the yellow
And the white

Finally, I post it
Wondering whether it works
For anyone else
If there is anything there
To tease another mind’s eye
With only the possibility
That there is more

Something more to find
Than cobalt
