Fraturday

Pacific Coast Highway Sunset
Sometimes I am called quite late
To set
On a Friday
In the afternoon

They serve us eggs on toast
With bacon (Gawd, we love bacon!)
We greet each other
“Good morning!”

Then we roll and roll
Take after take
Scene after scene
We create the dream

Watch the sun drop down
Shoot through magic hour
Love the light
Magic light

Then the sun is gone
And it’s dark
Cameras can’t see
In the dark

So we light up the land
Lift lamps up high
In the sky
On giant cranes

Then we roll and roll
Take after take
Scene after scene
We create the dream

Then it’s lunch
Lunch in the dark
While our families
Sup at home

Then we roll and roll
Take after take
Scene after scene
We create the dream

We work all through the day
And all through the night
Watch the clock go ’round
Through the dial

‘Til the sun comes round
And it lights up the sky
Once again
Then we wrap

We wrap up our tools
We climb in our cars
We head straight for home
Then we crawl into bed

And we sleep
We sleep and sleep
Through the day
‘Til it’s dark

When we wake at night
On a Saturday
We shake our heads and we think
WTF!?

The weekend’s just
36 hours long
Back to work on Monday
At seven A M

We call that day
A Fraturday
And that’s how we roll
In the movie biz
