I like the ocean best

A high overlook
With a hard onshore wind
Driving the breakers
Far onto shore

The ocean
Vast reservoir of wisdom
Speaks with the crash and whisper
Of water roiling on sand and rock

The wind
Its caress
Tousles my hair
Penetrates my being

I scan the world

The vast shimmering surface
The mountains and Islands
The white foam
Where land dances with sea

Then quiet my mind

Listen for the words
The breakers always bring

Change ~ ever changing
The same ~ always the same

When those words leave my mind
With no more thoughts to follow

I am peace
I am one
