Mountain Climbing

The Himalaya Range, Kunjapuri Devi Temple, Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, India
And there they are
The fabled range
Faded in the distant haze
Peaks too far to reach today

More this:
The journey here
Intends to scale

The mountains of
My inner life

In these foothills, at Rishikesh

The Himalayas

Taken during travels, 2017

It was the eastern sunrise which had all my attention, until I walked around to the north to see what could be seen. And there they were.

From a temple atop a 1645m ‘foothill’ (5400 feet), arguably the best known mountain range on earth. Lingering off in the distance. It took a 200mm lens to bring them this close.

They call to me, the Himalaya, but an inner voice reminds me, “They’re not what you’re here for.”

Some moments later, we get down to that as our Yogi steps us through a morning session while the sun continues to ascend into the day. I connect to that deeper self, down in forgotten valleys. The kundalini flows, again, raises me up. A peak I can reach today, right now.
